MissionsWhat in the world does CCC do about "missions"?The Bible says it. History shows it.... God’s love and grace extends to the whole world (John 3:16; Revelation 5:9)! Therefore, if we are to participate fully in the things that are near and dear to the heart of God, we must be continually engaged in partnering with others to take the good news of Christ, not just to our neighbors, but “to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). “Making disciples of all nations” is not a side program or optional ministry at CCC, it is the ultimate purpose that drives all our ministries! Led by our global missions team, we join in God’s plan of reaching the world (Matthew 28:18-20) in a variety of concrete ways:- By sending / supporting qualified people (i.e. long-term “missionaries”) to plant churches and minister in places that desperately need the good news of Jesus (*see list of supported missionaries) - By sending / supporting short-term mission teams—usually to places in the world where we have an established partnership and/or a CCC-supported missionary - By giving financial aid to qualified seminary students from our body who are pursuing further training - By focusing our prayers weekly on the needs of one of our assorted “ministry partners” - By encouraging our body to build redemptive friendships with the many International Students at Tech and Grambling - Through constantly reminding children (via Learning Center, Wednesday night “M&Ms," youth, and adults (via Sunday sermons, community group studies, etc.) about God’s desire to use us in making a global difference - By maintaining and making available to the body a “Missions Library” that can help members better understand God’s heart for the nations - By sponsoring mission conferences and/or special mission Sundays - By prompting member involvement in the support of worldwide, evangelical ministries like Share International, Compassion, The Bible League, Voice of the Martyrs, and sponsoring seasonal mission projects like Operation Christmas Child. - By encouraging our adult community groups to “adopt” one of our missionaries - By supporting (corporately) and encouraging our church members (indicidually) to get involved with local "help" agencies like Life Choices, Christian Community Action, D.A.R.T., Habitat for Humanity, etc. - By utilizing our annual youth mission fundraiser Dessert Fest as an occasion to cultivate relationships with unchurched neighbors and friends *Our current global missionaries, their sending agencies, and places of service are: Dr. Eric & Shelli, SEND, Central Asian Republics Robert & Amanda, International Mission Board, Central Asia Pastor Francis Elim, The Church at Nakabaran, Kenya (c/o SHARE International) Dr. Sammy Murimi, John Nakara (SHARE International) Bill & Stacy Prescott, Campus Crusade for Christ, Mendoza, Argentina Scott & Lee Pyles, Medical Centers of West Africa, Cameroon, Africa |
